I really like it! There´s nothing wrong with it, it feels unbearably 90´s and I really like the heated seats! This car also brought me the first time I ever read anything by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

I agree that its a sort of silver-haired, stock-investing,dad-joking middle ager, and to my grandfather this car was his overpriced convertible.

But the rich person´s Miata? How so?

I mean, its a low slung cabriolet with four cylinders and rear wheel drive, but its not a Miata, the interior is actually nice for once, the fuel economy is pathetic for a four cylinder engine, and the roof is electrical and also made out of metal. It´s a small car, yes, but it´s so heavy for it´s size it it might as well be the same density as a neuron star.

I ain´t gonna lie, I´ve never driven a Miata, but if a Miata drives like this SLK, why would I want to drive it? The SLK isn´t a sports car, its a highway cruiser, it understeers like crazy and the traction control goes nuts every time you think about accelerating. Turn the traction control off, and even then its imposible to induce oversteer, the car wants to grip to death out back, if you ever loose traction it´d be up front.

Granted, the engine does sound beautify thanks to that supercharger....

And yes Mr.Regular, My grandfather went around saying it had a turbo...

Is that car pink, or is it just the lighting? I had an ‘01 SLK230. My friend’s would tease me an call it the “Pet Shop Boys” car. I would fire back by pulling up to a bar or their home playing “West End Girls”.

Fun car. Still wish I could have picked up a 968 6MT coupe.

Its red... and the exhaust sound is pretty raspy!

I dont fit comfortably in it with the plush seats, but otherwize its a great car, just not a sporty car

Amusingly, my neighbor (who’s a slightly older guy with some past autocross and track experience, so we chat occasionally) just got one of these last year in SLK320 form and we swapped cars (mine being the NC Miata) for a brief drive shortly after he got it. It definitely felt like a laid-back cruiser as you described, with a very comfort-oriented ride, but the V6 was a nice little surprise. 215 HP in a ~3100 lb car isn’t going to light anyone’s hair on fire, but it’s plenty of shove for daily driving, the power delivery is smooth, and it makes some very satisfying noises if you can wring it out a bit.

Yeah, its a good car! I think the best engines are the supercharged ones. Its a car that, due to its heft, really needs that kompressor torque.

The V6 is more powerful and more reliable than the I4 though. V6 is way better.

Good luck finding one. And anyways, C32 is miles better. And if you like the C32, then you should really just get the C55 because its better in every way, except for how easy it is to tune for more power. But if you really like the SLK and want an AMG variant, then 55 is the only way to go.

But why? I’m genuinely curious here. Have you driven the V6?

Theres two amg 32s in the pub... every day... a grey one and a blue one.

I’ve never driven them, but ive heard them alright!

I thought we were limting to that generation Slk, if I wanted a compact convertible i’d probably get an NB miata, its my favourite generation model. If I was looking for an AMG car of that vintage I’d probably get the c55 as you said.

I know the 230k is more complex(less reliable) but I really like how it sounds and how it pulls. The supercharger tries its best to make the car less slow and I think it shows. I guess the NA v6has more shove but its a normie engine to me... I want the engines to have wierd sorta stuff...

Fair reasons! The 230k definitely had a slightly sportier character to it, but it’s all in sound and feel, not in any measurable way.

Yeah, I mean, pretty much everything could smoke that merc.... But the sound is pretty good. I feel like the engine bay is so big it might be able to fit an LS....
